Vox is fair-source: free for personal use, paid for use at work. The Teams plan covers commercial use, MDM-friendly deployment, and central configuration — without sending a single byte of audio to anyone.
Why a commercial license
If Vox makes you better at your job, your employer should pay — not you.
Vox is built by a small team and given away for personal use. The commercial license is what makes that sustainable. It's the same fair-source pattern Obsidian and OrbStack use.
Free for personal use
Your own writing, side projects, hobby work, and personal email. No license needed, no nag screen, no time limit.
Commercial when at work
Using Vox as part of your job at a company with more than one person? Each employee using Vox at work needs one seat.
The expense rationale
At $12 USD/seat/month, Vox is designed to be trivially expensable. Stripe issues a tax-compliant invoice for every charge — forward it to finance.
What's included
Everything IT needs. Nothing it doesn't.
Commercial-use license
Per-seat permission for work use. Reissued automatically as your seat count changes — same License ID, new effective date.
MDM-friendly installer
Signed and notarized .pkg for Apple MDMs (Jamf, Mosyle, Kandji). Silent install, no user prompts. A matching Windows .msi for Microsoft Intune ships alongside the Windows build.
Central configuration
A managed plist sets the team-wide default mode, dictionary entries (proper nouns, codenames), and hotkey policy on macOS. Equivalent policy controls follow on Windows.
Priority support
Direct email line — we aim to respond within one business day. You talk to us, not a ticketing queue.
Invoice & PO support
Stripe issues a tax-compliant invoice for every charge. POs and quoted invoices available for 11+ seats.
“Managed by [Company]”
Optional menu-bar branding so end users see who's licensing the tool — useful for IT visibility on managed devices.
Pricing
Per seat. Cancel any time.
One Stripe charge per month or year, in USD. Subscriptions auto-renew at the same rate until you cancel from your Account. Stripe issues an invoice for every renewal. Annual saves about 17% versus paying monthly.

What your team could get back, in hours and salary.
Many employees who type as part of their job spend the equivalent of about 40 minutes a day on keystrokes that could have been speech. Slide your team size and average loaded cost — the math runs in your browser, net of what Vox itself costs. Figures are illustrative estimates; your actual savings will vary.
Engineers, PMs, designers, support, ops — anyone whose day runs on keystrokes. This is the same seat count used at checkout.
Default $85 — typical fully-loaded cost for a US tech-startup employee (BLS mean for software developers is $66.78/hr base; benefits, payroll tax and equipment land it ~30% higher). Use whatever your finance team would call the right number.

vox@rizenhq.comCompliance posture. Vox is local software running on your team's Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer, macOS 14+). It does not transmit your audio, transcripts, or any user content off-device. Compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, FERPA, or any specific regulatory regime is a property of your overall environment, not of any one app — Vox's architecture is designed to stay out of your way. For HIPAA specifically, a Business Associate Agreement is not required: because Resonance Logic, LLC never creates, receives, maintains, or transmits protected health information on your behalf, we are not a Business Associate as defined in 45 CFR §160.103. Your organization's HIPAA Security Rule obligations (encryption-at-rest, workforce training, risk assessments) still apply. For clinical workflows we recommend the local Gemma 4 cleanup engine over Apple Intelligence — the latter may route via Apple's Private Cloud Compute, outside the scope of any BAA your organisation holds with Apple. Written architecture statement available for your security review on request.
FAQ for teams
Compliance & operations.
What does the commercial license actually grant?
Per-seat permission for one named employee to use Vox as part of their work for the licensed organization, including on company-owned hardware. Personal use of Vox by the same employee outside of work doesn't consume an additional seat. How is the deployment package different from the consumer download?
Same app, packaged for managed rollout: a signed and notarized .pkg for Apple MDMs (Jamf, Mosyle, Kandji). Push it through your MDM and Vox arrives pre-configured with your default modes and dictionary — no per-user setup. A matching Windows installer (.msi) for Microsoft Intune is on the roadmap and will land alongside the Windows app.Can we set a default Voice Mode for everyone?
Yes. The central config (plist on macOS today; equivalent policy mechanism on Windows when that build lands) sets the default mode and seeds the team-wide dictionary (proper nouns, internal codenames, acronyms). Individual users can still override locally; the default is what they start with.Is Vox HIPAA / SOC 2 / GDPR compliant?
Vox is local software — it does not transmit your audio, transcripts, or any user content off-device. Compliance is a property of your overall environment, not of any one app. For HIPAA specifically, a Business Associate Agreement is not required because Resonance Logic, LLC never receives PHI on your behalf — we are not a Business Associate as defined in 45 CFR §160.103. Your own HIPAA Security Rule obligations (encryption-at-rest, workforce training, risk assessments) still apply. For clinical workflows, pick the local Gemma 4 cleanup engine over Apple Intelligence; the latter may route through Apple's Private Cloud Compute, outside any BAA your organisation holds with Apple. Written architecture statement available for your security review. What about invoices and POs?
Stripe issues a tax-compliant invoice automatically for every charge. For purchases of 11+ seats, we can issue a PO-quoted invoice on request — email sales. How do refunds work?
14-day refund on self-service Teams plans, no questions asked. After the window, you can cancel any time and keep access through the end of your billing period. See the Refund Policy. What happens if we change seat count mid-cycle?
Stripe pro-rates billing automatically. Your license certificate is reissued with the new seat count, same License ID, new effective date — delivered by email and downloadable from your Customer Portal. What about SSO / SAML?
Vox is local software — there is no app-side login to federate. SSO becomes relevant if you want to control who in the company can install Vox; that's an MDM policy, not a Vox feature.
